Life Group Questions

1. If you were to take a poll of your colleagues at work, would you be described as "trustworthy" or "untrustworthy"? If yes, why? If no, what are you doing to change that?

2. Pastor Paul said, "Trust is not earned, but given." How does this challenge the way you have believed?

3. Of the 8 ways to become trustworthy, which one(s) can you begin to work on?
> Talk Straight.
> Demonstrate Respect.
> Create Transparency.
> Right Wrongs.
> Show Loyalty.
> Clarify Expectations.
> Deliver Results.
> Get Better.

4. Break into 2 groups, men and women. We would like each member of the group to share how you are doing and what you need prayer for. DO NOT RUSH!!! Each member of the group will pray for one other. If you are uncomfortable praying aloud, do not feel pressure to pray aloud. However, we would like you to stretch yourself.


Be Trustworthy

Psalm 78:57
“They were just like their fathers, they were disloyal and unfaithful, and I cast them aside like an unreliable bow.”

If we look closely at life, we will see how being Trustworthy is a key to success.

Ephesians 4:16
“From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love as each part does its work.”

-Reliable  =  ligare  =  to bind together
-Ligament:  the binding tissue of the body
-We are bound together in beneficial relationship through Trust.


-Isaac Newton:  “Men build too many walls, and not enough bridges.”
-Neal Maxwell:  “It is better to trust, and sometimes be disappointed, than to be forever mistrusting and be right occasionally.” 
-God wants to restore your innocence.
-I choose to believe in you.

Talk Straight

Matt. 5:37
“Let your yes mean yes, and your no mean no.”

-Be honest.
-Let people know where you stand.
-Call things what they are in simple language.
-Don’t manipulate people or distort facts.
-Don’t leave false impressions.
-Become Trustworthy

Demonstrate Respect

1 Peter 2:17
“Show respect for all men;  treat them honorably.”

-Genuinely care for others, and show it by your actions.
-Treat everyone with respect, especially those who can’t do anything for you.
-Show kindness in the little things.
-Never be efficient with people.
-Become Trustworthy

Create Transparency

Rom. 12:9
“Your love must be sincere.”

-Operate on the premise of  “What you see is what you get.”
-Don’t have hidden agendas.
-Become Trustworthy

Right Wrongs

James 5:16
“Confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.”

-Make things right when you’re wrong.
-Apologize quickly, and without blame-shifting.
-Make restitution whenever possible.
-Don’t let pride get in the way of doing the right thing.
-Become Trustworthy

Show Loyalty

Eph. 4:29
“Don’t let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up.”

-Give credit freely.
-Seek to build others up in the eyes of others.
-If you must relay something negative, make sure your intent is pure.
-Become Trustworthy

Clarify Expectations

Phil. 2:4
“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”

-Discuss expectations beforehand.
-Renegotiate them if needed.
-Don’t assume that you know what matters most to others.
-Don’t presume to have all of the answers, or all of the questions.
-Become Trustworthy

Deliver Results

Prov. 22:29
“Do you see a man skillful in his work?  He will stand before kings.”

-Establish a track record of great results.
-Don’t over-promise and under-deliver.
-Don’t make excuses for not delivering.
-Make commitments carefully, then keep them.
-Become Trustworthy

Get Better

2 Tim. 3:17
“That the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”

-Continue to improve.
-Be a constant learner.
-Get feedback from the right people.
-Be Trustworthy
