Wisdom for the Wise
Life Group Questions
Key Verse: James 3:13-18
Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, thenpeaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.
And the seed whose fruitis righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
1. Everyone needs wisdom!! When the need arises for wisdom, what is your first inclination of where to turn and how often do you run back to your natural understanding of "wisdom from the world" to gain wisdom?
2. The fruit of "worldly wisdom" produces the fruit of envy, self-seeking, confusion and every evil thing. If you were to look honestly into the fruit of your life, would any of those fruits be there?
James 1:5, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."
3. Pastor Paul said that the "Wisdom of the Word" comes from two sources:
**By the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ
**By the written Word, the Bible
Share with your life group when you have drawn wisdom from these two sources.
4. On Sunday, multiple fruits of the "Wisdom of the Word" were listed.
Purity, Peace, Gentleness, Full of Mercy, Good Fruit, Without Partiality and Without Hypocrisy
Are you experiencing these fruits in your life?
